What is Krav Maga?
Krav Maga is a method of hand to hand combat originating in the Israeli Military. Developed by Imi Sde Or in 1948, Krav Maga was developed initially as the Israeli Defence Forces needed an effective programme of Close Quarter Combat skills suitable for urban warfare. Krav Maga is now the largest Reality Based Self Defence system in the world and is still taught to thousands of military and police units and to millions of civilians worldwide.
What does krav maga mean?
The literal translation from Hebrew to English is “contact combat” or “close combat.”
Why choose krav maga midlands??
1. We have direct lineage from original Krav Maga as our chief instructor Bartosz Zukowski was taught by Eyal Yanilov (direct and the best student of Imi Sde Or – KM the founder) on many occasions including multiple trips to Israel. This knowledge has been passed to all Krav Maga Midlands instructors over the years of training.
2. We are proud to say that we are the most professional self-defence school in the Midlands. This will reflect on the service you’ll receive from us.
3. All of our instructors are friendly and adequately trained to conduct enthusiastic self-defence training. All members of our TEAM are fully insured, DBS checked, have First Aid training and are licensed by BMABA (British martial Arts and Boxing Association). All instructors also have SafeGuard Certificates.
4. We offer classes in 6 locations across the Midlands in a total of 15 per week. You can progress with us by participating in official gradings.
Our school is also one of the oldest and most experienced in the UK Est.2009
What will I learn?
Krav Maga Midlands curriculum is the only UK approved Krav Maga syllabus by British Martial Arts and Boxing Association (BMABA), which stands for very high standards in teaching. In our classes, you’ll cover, situational awareness, footwork, striking, kicking, defences against dangerous grabs/holds, ground defence, defence against weapons, multiple attacker scenarios, conflict management, and post-fight procedures. All of this according to UK Law.
I am unfit, older or have an injury?
Around 80% of those starting do so to improve their fitness and self-confidence. This is entirely normal, and we can scale activities to suit your ability.
Krav Maga does not emphasize high kicks or complex movements so older students can train with relatively simple adjustments in the intensity and recovery. We frequently see 50+-year-old Kravists who are fitter and stronger than new students in their 30’s. We have had members in their 70’s training in class with younger students with relatively minor differences in their practice. We can work around most injuries as long as you are safe to train in a dynamic environment – Krav Maga has something to offer you.
Is krav maga suitable for women?
Many women train with us. Krav Maga is a self-defence system that anybody can use. It does not rely on size or strength to overcome your attacker, but simple instinctive techniques that anybody can learn. It is a perfect system for women to learn to become safer and be able to defence themselves.
What is the minimum age to start Krav Maga?
The minimum age for regular Self Protection Fundamentals classes is 14years old – we may make some exceptions for 13y old, but please contact us before you book your trial. For students under the age of 18 parental written consent is required.

Is it dangerous? Will I get hurt?
At Krav Maga Midlands safety in training is our number one priority. It’s the nature of activity like Krav Maga that accidents can happen, but as long as you follow the instructor’s guidance and respect your training partner, you will be fine. Injuries more than the occasional bruise are rare.
Will I be insured?

Our license provider is British Martial Arts and Boxing Association. We’ll send you all the necessary information about how to get insured and licensed once you become a member.
